First Lego League Competition

This Saturday, the Humanitree Robotics team travelled to the Tecnológico de Monterrey for the First Lego League competition.

Over the first two terms, the Humanitree Robotics club along with Mr Marc and Mr Daniel have been meeting every Wednesday after school to work on their submission for the competition.

This year's 'Masterpiece' theme focused on the student's interpretation of what art means to them. Across two different teams, the 13 Humanitree students created some enormously creative and innovative designs using the Lego Spike Essential kits. Inspired by their own hobbies and interests, the student's builds included theme parks, museums, football stadiums, music stages and more.

Using the Lego Spike Essential app, the students showcased their coding skills, coding the various mechanical parts to move, speak and light up in various different ways.

During the competition, the judges commented on the team's ability to articulate what they learned from each other during the building and coding process as well as how each of the Lego Core Values.

One of our Bloom 3 students commented on the experience saying: "My favourite part of the Lego competition was getting to work with my friends and sharing our ideas."

Unfortunately the Humanitree Robotics team never made it through to the Nationals competition, but they did win commendation awards for Core Values and Creativity. Well done to everyone involved!
